*The HLTAID004: Provide an emergency first aid response in an education and care setting unit is NOT delivered by Inspire Education, students must organise the completion of this unit via an external provider.

Nominal hours for this course is 2190 hours which already counts the required Vocational Placement duration. You will have 12 months to complete the course, but you can study online on your own schedule and complete the course as fast as you can because you are free to set your own pace.

You will be assessed throughout the course using a variety of tools. This includes a skills journal, case studies, projects and written questions.

Vocational Placement for Child Care

You are required to undergo Vocational Placement in a registered child care facility to gain the Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care. This will give you valuable hands on experience where you can apply the lessons you’ve learned in the course and be familiar with how the industry works. Vocational Placement prepares you to work with children, including babies and toddlers, when you pursue educator roles after you gain your qualification.

You need to complete at least of 240 hours of service in a registered child care provider over a period of 2 years to fulfill the Vocational Placement requirement.

Prerequisites

There are no formal prerequisites to study the Diploma of ECE, but it is recommended that you are at least 18 years old, have Year 10 English or its equivalent since literacy and language skills are integral for child care workers. Basic knowledge in computers is also recommended.

Take note that students are required to undergo a background check by the police before being able to complete the vocational placement. Requirements and criteria vary depending on your state or territory.

Recognition of Prior Learning

You can apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) if you already posses the competencies taught by the Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care. RPL is granted depending on whether you can provide sufficient evidence to back up your claims.
